Young At Art Creativity Camps

Dear Artists & Educators,

It’s time to start thinking about summer plans. Steamboat Creates is looking for teachers and artists to design and teach a week long Young At Art Creativity Camp. This is a great way to earn a little extra income while sharing your passion with young artists. Submit your proposal to teach a week long creativity class for this Summer’s Young at Art Creativity Camps. Weekly sessions will be running from mid-June to mid-August.
Young at Art Teaching proposals are due February 25, 2019!
Young at Art is one of the longest running programs at the historic Depot Art Center. Since its inception in 1988, we have served thousands of children between the ages of 4-18, while providing support and sustenance for hundreds of artists and teachers in the Yampa valley.
This year’s programming will focus on the theme of creative problem solving. Children who can effectively problem solve are better prepared for this ever-changing world in which they will soon become leaders. Creativity is a fundamental tool in teaching children the importance of problem solving. Through creative projects, a problem or objective can be identified and solutions looked at from all angles. Often times there is more than one solution. Weaving this in our creativity camps while stimulating their imagination enables Young at Art students to walk away from Young At Art Creativity Camp feeling accomplished as creative problem solvers.
Young at Art teachers are provided lots of support by Steamboat Creates staff:
  • We do the marketing
  • We take care of registrations and liability forms
  • We provide a dedicated assistant to help with your project, and to help with the logistics of gathering the student’s information
  • We have a resource room called “Create Space” full of up-cycled supplies
  • We can help you flesh out your idea
  • We can also provide a budget for some material costs
  • You receive 50% of all the registration fees (including scholarships)
  • Your creative influence will make an impact on the lives of children in our community
Students meet daily Monday-Friday, from 8:30a-12:00p for the morning sessions and 1:00p-4:30p for afternoon sessions. Full-day sessions are also an option. We ask that teachers maximize the student’s class time by allowing 30 minutes before class for preparation and 30 minutes after class for packing up. Past classes have featured dance, photography, creative writing, mad science, painting, fashion design, music, fly-tying,
robotics and theater. We are looking for proposals for programming for youth ages 4 to 18.
