The curtain has closed on the 44th annual Cabaret — and we are so grateful. A Tale of Two Seasons brought over 700 community members to the Depot Art Center for four nights of comedy, music, and sharp local storytelling. It was everything Cabaret has always been, and then some.
44 Years of Steamboat Tradition
Cabaret did not start as a polished production. It started as a community gathering — neighbors getting together to poke fun at local life, celebrate the place they call home, and make each other laugh. That spirit has never left.
For 44 years, Cabaret has been the show Steamboat talks about all year. It is where local talent takes center stage, where inside jokes land because everyone in the room has lived them, and where the comedy is sharp because the writers know this town — its weather, its quirks, its characters, and its heart. The audiences have grown. The production has grown. But the soul of it has stayed exactly the same: a celebration of this community, made by this community, for this community.
Cabaret is one of Steamboat Creates’ most significant annual fundraisers — and its success has a direct impact on everything we do for the rest of the year. Every ticket sold and every sponsorship secured helps power Young at Art Creativity Camps, exhibitions and performances at the Depot Art Center, public art installations across downtown Steamboat, and the day-to-day operations that keep our programming accessible to all. When you come to Cabaret, you are not just having a great night out. You are investing in your community and making it possible for the arts to thrive in the Yampa Valley.
