Winter Carnival Snow Sculptures

Since 2015, Steamboat Creates has overseen the Snow Sculptures portion of Winter Carnival, continuing a tradition that dates back to 1929. Snow Sculptures celebrate the intersection of art and athletics, inviting high school students and community members to carve stunning snow sculptures that line Lincoln Avenue. The sculptures are judged for prizes and become a vibrant part of the Winter Carnival experience.

In partnership with the Steamboat Springs School District, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, and the City of Steamboat Springs, Steamboat Creates helps to infuse a dynamic creative spirit into this cherished event, bringing a fresh artistic energy to the heart of Winter Carnival.

Call for Winter Carnival Snow Sculpture Teams

Steamboat Creates is now accepting applications for the Winter Carnival Snow Sculpture Competition, one of Steamboat’s most beloved winter traditions. We invite community and student teams to bring their creativity to the snow and be part of this iconic celebration.

Due to snow conditions this year, the number of participating teams will be limited. A total of five community teams and five student teams will be selected, making the application process competitive.

Teams will submit a design concept as part of the application. Selected teams will be notified by January 27. First-place teams in each category will receive great prizes, generously provided by local sponsors.

If you love working collaboratively, creating something bold and playful, and sharing your creativity with the community, we encourage you to apply.
