Field Notes brings together work shaped by close observation—of landscape, memory, light, and the subtle details that surface when we slow down and look carefully. Each of the twelve local artists has either selected existing work or created new pieces in response to the theme, offering interpretations that feel both personal and expansive.

At the heart of the exhibition is a simple truth: we all notice different things. What we choose to record, remember, and emphasize is shaped by our experiences, desires, curiosities, and inner landscapes. In this way, Field Notes becomes more than a collection of artworks—it becomes a reflection of the many ways we move through life, each following our own signals and telling a visual story of what matters to us.

Together, these works offer a glimpse into each artist’s way of seeing, inviting viewers to find something that resonates—something familiar, personal, or meaningful. Like notes gathered in the field, the exhibition traces moments of attention: fragments of place, marks of experience, and visual records of what is seen, felt, and remembered. Ultimately, it asks us to look more closely and leave with a renewed awareness of the quiet beauty unfolding around us.

Please join us for the opening of Field Notes on Friday, September 4, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm during Artwalk.
