This class will cover the first basic steps of wheel-thrown ceramics. Students will learn to center the clay on the wheel, form the bottom of the vessel and begin creating simple cylinder forms. Students will also learn to trim their pots and glaze their pieces. Intermediate students can brush up on their skills and will choose specific projects to work in a series. Carving techniques and slip trailing/decoration will also be demonstrated and incorporated into the class. Returning students are welcome to work on more advanced methods of decoration and building. Adults 18 and over only.
